Devising Political Fiction

Eduardo Suré; Chimpanzee, 2017; Graphite on Sketch Paper

I sketched this chimpanzee while thinking up the next bedtime story. I was thinking of the subject for a political fiction. I decided on writing about Aristotle’s view about the state as an association. Aristotle argued that a state is distinct from other associations (house, monarchy, etc.) and that a statesman is unlike other rulers because a statesman rules over equals. To my kids, it will just be another story.
